Today I went to visit my parents in the nursing facility they are at. As I was walking up to the facility, the activity director was walking out. She told me my mom had been looking for me, and she was having a day. She told me my mom told my dad she had been having an affair with him for the past 7 days. I was like, really?

I went into the facility, I’m walking down the hall, and here is my dad wheeling himself in front of the nurses’ station, complaining loudly that he’s in pain. He said they gave him 4 pills about 4 hours ago, and the pain is still there. He continued complaining, not letting me get a word in. The nurse takes him down to his room to check his catheter.

In the meantime, one of the CNA’s tells my mom that my dad told her that she’s been having an affair with the one male CNA on second shift for the past 7 days. The male CNA is gay. I just stood there and shook my head.

I went to talk to my mom, and she told me the one CNA threw her on the bed and proceeded to hit her. The CNA is lucky to be 100lbs soaking wet. I told my mom there is no way she could lift you up. With absolute certainty, she tells me yes, she did. I asked my mom if she wanted me to talk to the CNA, and she said yes. So, I proceed to go talk to the CNA, and I tell her I know she didn’t do what Mom says, but if my mom asks, I did talk to you about it. She agreed.

My dad had to have his catheter changed because it had a blockage, so he stayed in his room in bed during the entire visit. While I’m visiting with my mom, she tells me the one girl wants Dad to impregnate her. I literally just shook my head. I didn’t want to be graphic with her, but I also wanted to get my point across, so I asked my mom if she remembered years ago when Dad tried Viagra, and she said it didn’t work. She just looked at me, and I told her Dad can’t get anyone pregnant. She was like, oh ok.

Those were the main highlights of my visit today with my parents.

I’m planning on creating a page that starts out with the beginning of my mom’s dementia journey, but after the visit today, I just want to rest and read. Stay tuned, though because I will be posting more 🙂 Thank you for reading.
